Workmanship and attention to detail on this vessel were flawless, and the equipment was the best that money could buy. The refit was done by John Patnovic who has specialized in major refits on Bertram 31's. The work was so impressive that it became the cover story for the December 2000 edition of Chesapeake Bay Magazine. The present owner has owned the boat since 2005 and has continued to maintain the boat in excellent condition. He has added new equipment during his ownership that has kept the boat current. Equipment upgrades include outriggers, engine block heaters, and a new GPS chartplotter and fishfinder system. Slainte is equipped with trolling valves. The devices permit cruising speeds below the normal idling speed for the boat's engines and props. A discussion of trolling valves can be found in a Motorboating magazine article posted on the Internet. YachtWorld will not let us include website addresses in our listings, but a Google search on "trolling valves Motorboating" will get you right to the site. This Bertram 31 is a dual purpose boat that may be used as a serious fishing boat or a family picnic boat that is offered far below the prices you will see for the "brand name" picnic boats.
