RIP Dave

Post by Bruce »

Dave Brubeck passed. One of the greats.
Innovative jazz player without the infusion of modern day obscure scales played repetitiously as fast as possible.
A wizard using time signatures.

Good music has always been less is more.

Well said, Bruce.

Dave was a "local boy made good", and a member of my chapter (SF) of NARAS. I trust we'll come up with something fitting for the Grammy telecast...

Meanwhile, back to playing "Time Out" and thinking what tonight's jam session with Dave, Paul, and Joe will be like. Just Gene is left...

For those who aren't familiar, here's a fabulous performance of my favorite Brubeck composition. Joe Morello makes me laugh!
