Ruder Shelf Placement

Getting ready to fit the rough cut rudder shelf into place and was originally going to run it from top of the out side stringer to top of outside stringer.

Is it preferable to run in between the stringers about midway down or does it matter. Plan on using Capt Pats rudders and was wondering if the shafts were long enough if the shelf is mounted at the top of the stringers.

Check out Capt.Pats building tip page he has some pics of how he has done it. I believe that if you run it from the outside to the outside stringers about right. I have just rebuilt my old ones and not replaced the hole thing.When I pull the deck next time I will replace with one big shelf.
