In the same issue of Boating which briefly mentions the 31 Bertram and Ray Hunt's efforts, there is a full page ad (p. 78) for VOLKSWAGEN MARINE DIESELS. The ad says they are available from 50 to 225 hp, quiet, smoke free, fuell efficient, etc. They are being handled by Ring Power Corp - wwwmarine@ringpower.com - and the ad says they will be on display at the Lauderdale show.
Interesting.

VW Marine
OK, went to the VW Marine website. The 225 hp engine is a V-6, same engine they use in the Audi's and the Volkswagen SUV's. Peak hp at 4,500 rpm, torque at 4,000. All the technical info was in metric. I don't do metric, for personal reasons, so don't know the weight, length, width, etc. Should be a small engine, might be a good one for 28's. Currently partnering with Mercuiser (like everyone else) for stern drive applications.
