In line/stand by pump

Is there any pump that can be connected IN LINE on a hose/tube so that it be activated ONLY when there is water entering one side? There shouldn't exist an outside floater to activate it.
(The pump can be turned on or off from the switchboard but it will only operate when water enters from one side; the presence of water in the entry side should automatically activate it).

Kinda sound like a smart bilge pump. The pump cycles at a set time period, if it feels the resistance of water the pump turns on.

Great pumps, but if you sleep on the boat, and are a light sleeper, you will hear it go on and off as it activates to check for water.

Also, if left active during Winter layup, it will run your battery down.

Unfortunately this pump needs to pull water from a bilge;

what Im looking for is a completely closed system, if it exists, whereby the pump collects DIRECTLY from the shower floor valve (through a IN port) and discharges outboard (through an OUT port) without any water being visible in the process.
This pump should operate ONLY if it receives water from its intake and then remain shut until it senses water again.
Does anybody make such a pump?

you are not looking for a pump, you are looking for a sensor you can add to a location which can contain water which in turn will turn on a pump if water exists.

No, ktm, I want to get rid of my shower sump completely and send the grey water directly overboard, the problem is the shower floor is lower than sea level.

I think you are looking for something that could live in a hose and turn a pump on when it sees water, I am not sure that exists.

Shower drain flows into a shower pan mounted under shower which contains the pump. Pump "sees" water and turns on discharging overboard../being grey water you want it out so install one way valve. Pump I have seen is oftern a bilge pump with floating switch...but could be smart pump or as KTM said a water sensor.

I want to get rid of the pan and the float and direct the gray water out with a hose that incorporates an inline pump that gets triggered by that same water.

I don't want the shower water to fall into a pan, trigger the float that starts a pump that sends the water overboard.

The question is, does such a pump exist?
