Bertram 25 windshield frame bedding

Post by Briancc »

I have refinished my windshield frames on my 25 fbsf. I went the sandblasting, aumiprep, alodine ,zinc epoxy primer and alexseal 501 route. Hopefully they outlast my ownership of the boat. I'm ready to re bed them to the hull and hardtop. I was wondering what product to use? I think they were originally bedded in dolfinite or something like it from the factory. It seems 4000uv, 4200 or the like would be overkill and very messy. Any thoughts?

Brian

Not sure what would be the best bedding for the windows, but I would think you need it to be really flexible and 4000 and 4200 probably don't have enough give.

That my thought as well. Not to mention the cleanup. I emailed a couple of windshield manufacturers weeks ago hoping to get some guidance but have yet to get an answer. Probably going to go back with dolfinite.

I think I used Sikaflex 291.
