Engine cradle/stand

Post by Kevind767 »

Removing 3208T engines, and am looking for stands.

Any ideas, or should I get someone to weld me some cradles?

Thanks

Kevin,

Here we have a truck with a crane that lifts the engine, places it on a wooden pallet and then a clark drives it where you want.

My plan is to have the yard remove the engines and transmission, and when I get them home, have the cradle to move them around for cleaning and painting.

I’m either going with the wooden pallet, or get a friend to weld me up something we can put castors wheels on.

Highly recommend a wheeled hydraulic engine hoist and some timber blocking.
Keep feet very clear and make sure the hoist is stable when moving about,
keep the engine low, leave your flip-flops on the boat.

Good luck,

Kevin,

I’ve done it both ways. Wooden pallet which I moved around with a pallet jack in my shop and metal welded cart with casters.

I highly recommend the welded cradle with casters. It was the cat’s meow. It may cost a little more, but if you have a friend with fabrication skills, I’d go that way.

It made cleaning and repainting as easy as it was ever going to be. Good luck.

Kevin, I have an OTC 1750A stand (I don't know how to post a pic or link) that you are welcome to (although Destin to NC is a pretty good trek!). I think I even have a 3208 mounting plate.
