Tropic Star Bertrams Featured on Dude Perfect

Post by HotSpot »

Popular YouTube channel Dude Perfect recently did a video at the lodge. Lots of shots of those beauts, along some nice fish and a healthy helping of adolescent tomfoolery.

Those colors are amazing. The fish and the boats.

When UV was around ( god rest his sole ) he would instigate a weeks fishing trip down to Tropic Star. Unfortunately I never made it, but I believe of those still around, Mike and possibly Dug made the trip.

It was expected that Uncle Vic was always going to take on and win all challenges.

My boys, now 13&10 are huge fans of the show. Thankfully they are also in the know that TSL is the bucket list trip for me. I thinks now on their list too.

Peter

If you take them, they will be hooked forever and it will become a ritual and your wife will not be happy.

But if I were you, I think that would be a great father and son trip. In fact if your wife was up to it, it would be a great family trip.

Tony: I was on the first one. Caught 8 sailfish on that trip. As a matter of fact my profile picture was taken down there on the same boat with UV! That is a Tropic Star hat I have on.

Thats right you did make it. I wonder a lot about some of the old crew that we do not hear from anymore.

Hence why I have not gone yet, but why I am able to refit the boat. Haha.

On another note we have done a couple of trips to Cabo and fished on Redrum. We were able to do those trips from NY almost entirely on credit card points (hotel and airfare).

The fishing is not nearly as good in the Bahamas as Panama but its far better than the US. At certain times of the year its pretty close to being as good. You can fish in your own boat and save quite a bit of money.

I could if my boat was in the Bahamas or even in Florida, but a hell of a long ride to go fishing from NYC. Maybe someday...
Dad go close to that, brought his boat from her to Florida and planned to head over to the Bahamas, just weather and life got in the way. He still has done some great fishing from Florida and made the Bahama trip on friends' boats.

Sometimes there is something to be said about just walking down the dock step' n on a boat that puts you on fish. Then more better-er...getting back, step' n off of the boat n saying bye, as the buckets n scrub brushes make an appearance.

Thanks for the invite, maybe one day.

Hmmm...I'll be in the Bahamas around the New Year, maybe a touch too soon to fish your boat.

The right place at the wrong time or the wrong time at the right place, it's the story of my life, LOL.

A bit too early for the 31 but I've got a reliable old center console that is ready to go fishing!

I went in 2019. It was awe striking, stunningly beautiful, and the fishing was terrific. Great trip with B31 folks, and my Dad and brother. I don’t remember it costing anywhere near that figure, though it was more than a weekend at the shore. But it should be!!! The people there, facilities and fishing are world class. Go, go, go when you can!!!

That was a great trip Dug! We had a great group. There was one questionable character that was supposed to attend but I can't quite remember who?

That chummer spent a butt load to go for massages.
