So she's finally in for facelift, The paint job was over 20 years old and the clear was peeling of in a few area's. I removed the Teak on the transom as the bottom board was rotting and it was on its last legs. Stripping that teak was not a fun project, but i found out that a multi tool with and adhesive blade peels 5200 off like butter. I made a few changes, the side air boxes are being deleted, Glassed over all the side thru-hulls, new Rubrail from ABT and will be installing Aquatraction on the fore decks and down the sides in front of the main windows and on the helm.
i could be wrong but I think he subbed that teak work out. I kind of remember having a conversation with either him or his guy Dennis who did most of the work there. I never inspected the boat up close but would pass by it on land a lot. Has to be 15+ years ago .
aqua mist is a different color than what you had, but im sure you already knew that
The color currently on the boat is Aquamist, going with same. I originally thought it was seafoam but when you put the color chart up it's not even close. The teak on the helm was screwed down with fine drywall screws. Every single one snapped when I was removing it. The Transom had screws, nuts and bolts, multiple sizes amd no rhyme or reason to a screw pattern.
Your first 3 pictures look like ice blue, then the other pic looks more green, they are somehow remarkably close to each other even when you have them side by side in the yard. I had 2 I had just painted of each color and even I was doing a double take
It doesn’t really matter that much because your painting the hull anyhow
i think two weeks and she'll be done, then im doing the Cream color by roller and few other small projects like 1kw ducer, new throttle controls and new Aquatraction
ok, so 130 man hour later we are now in primer. We prepped and repaired all the crazing from where the hull and top decks are connected. We're gonna spray the toe rail so when he puts the rub rail on we have to mess with that area again. They ended up stripping the whole paint job off with razor blades. Took 4 guys 4 hours for the whole thing. Will be spraying the toe rail this week and then next week is the hulls turn. One thing i will say is this guys work is top notch, Every single hole and patch was ground out and fiberglassed back a little higher and then sanded back down. The only filler he used was to fill small scratch or voids. Check out this brand new MJM he just painted, 50' triple 600 Mercs. Does 60 knots wot at $1000.00 bucks an hour lol
She's done!!! Cant be happier with the results. 193 labor hours is what it took, if its in direct sunlight it look white, in the shadow is blue and sun behind it she's green. All new rub rail and black widow bottom job. I did a 2" cream boot stripe with a 1/2" hunter green accent
