cummins 330 hp
What does a 330 hp reman Cummins cost these days? Not installed, no gears. just the engine on a pallet.

Re: cummins 330 hp
Hopefully someone who just shopped around will respond. Given the crazy market we are i today I would hate to even take a guess. Not even sure if Mechanical 330's are that available.

Re: cummins 330 hp
My guess based upon my purchase this summer is around 35 to 36K given the recent price increases.

4 months ago Recon 5.9 BTA’s 270 HP were 27K and change, and they were giving 2K per motor as a core return. EarleyBird

That seems way light. John Lane at Forked River Diesel had told we the prices had doubled for engine and trans from when I put mine in. That was a few years ago and last year I heard the 270's were almost nonexistent.

Tony,
How time flies, last November Richard Sutton..Marine Territory Manager (East) told me $25,951 + 2550 core charge. Get core $$ back if you turn in old engine. His # 410-762-1419. Having to much fun fishing, 428 hours on those 5.9 BTAs.this season, didn’t think it was more than a year, my mistake on the timing. EarleyBird

Re: cummins 330 hp
Are 330's the same engines as 315's?
I am guessing CPL 1975? CPL Tags that I have seen list the rated HP at 315 (maybe that is MHP)

Same engine with some tweaks. The 210, 250, 270, 315, 330 is the same Storm Block. Difference becomes fuel pump, after coolers, turbos and I believe some other modifications.scenarioL113 wrote: ↑Dec 18th, '21, 18:49 Are 330's the same engines as 315's?

I am talking Specifically about CPL 1975Tony Meola wrote: ↑Dec 18th, '21, 21:46 Same engine with some tweaks. The 210, 250, 270, 315, 330 is the same Storm Block. Difference becomes fuel pump, after coolers, turbos and I believe some other modifications.
I understand the same series 210, 250, 270 etc...
I am wondering if the 315 and 330 are the SAME engine... I have been trying to get info but seem to be many references that CPL 1975 is a 330hp cummins and also a 315 Cummins.
The CPL is very specific so I was wondering of the 315 was "marketed" as 330hp but the CPL plate lists it as 315 "M"HP...

Re: cummins 330 hp
315 hp cummins and 330 hp exactly the same engine .the difference is what the temperature of the fuel at the motor when the engine was tested and.for the technical guys 315 hp rating at 104 degree fuel rating and 330 at 77 degree fuel rated temp at fuel injector. pump. basically if you locate the Racors in the bilge away from the engine room and in line with the fuel intake block mounted on the port side of engine you will have 330hp but if you let a marine boatyard mechanic install he will install high on the main bulkhead just below the engine hatch (the hottest area on the boat) together with side vents for air instead of piping fresh air to turbo air input and you will have 315hp instead of 345 hp. (as tested)

Re: cummins 330 hp
I saw an installation a week or so ago in a B31 with the racors and valves under the steps down into the cabin right at the end of the main fuel tank. This particular boat had two aux fuel tanks along with the main fuel tank.
The fill port and vents were in the side of the tank maximizing the volume of the tank under the floor.

Where did they put the Intakes? Mine are right under that step.

Re: cummins 330 hp
for those of you whom don't know the fuel fill hose and vent hose will fit on top of the tank under the deck so you remove the very bad fill hose (fuel will slosh in the hose because it make a loop )and it goes across valuable storage space .place the hose on top of tank and stub up dead center of Gunnel on the transom. the vent goes out just under rub rail with the other thru hulls from bilge pumps .now you can fuel the boat from either side of boat at fuel dock without running that filthy hose thru the cockpit. fuel hose is off boat over the water to the rear of transom. most important you now have closed that vent on the midships on starboard side of the boat (bad).

Re: cummins 330 hp
Bob, you're right, this is the best way.
However, look at what life can bring on to you sometimes ..firstly, I moore bow in, so my stern is the farthest away. So this filthy hose will be all over the place until it reaches its destination.
And second, and most important (!) is that usually during the time the fuel tank arrives, it is lunch time, so the table is open, the drinks are ready and the friends are all sitting in the cockpit; very bad manners to have them all moved around so as to reach to the transom, lol !

you moor bow to the dock? OK you like watching the women putting their legs over the front rail, other then that i have never experience docking bow first with a 28,31 Bertram.

Re: cummins 330 hp
Bob, take a look at these first 9 pics.
We don't have pontoon type docks so that one could board from the side, and it is MUCH preferable to look at the sea than the hairy legs of the by passers.
To answer to your comment more specifically, women don't have to raise their legs anymore, they just board through this rail opening!
I also added two angular stanchion supports so that the rail be more stable (see pics).

Tony, where the hell did you come up with that!! Too funny!!

I'm assuming you meant the air intakes. They are the original outboard design although with a few modifications.Tony Meola wrote: ↑Dec 20th, '21, 21:32 Rick

Water Intakes. If the Racors are there, then water intakes would have to be moved. I have seen the intakes moved to an area right alongside the shaft coupling.

The water intakes are just inboard of the shaft. There were no on board strainers so I assume they were the exterior strainers.
