It was a good weekend to get some work done! I glued and glassed the wing electronics boxes and got some fairing compound on them hope fully I can finish up this week and put some primer on.

Where is all the dust? Or the over spray???
If I was doing this I am sure it would all over my neighbors lawns and houses...it would look like the North Pole.

The original Bertram wiring with both upstairs and downstairs ignition switches that need to be on has foiled many thieves I bet. It even foils me if I am not careful! LOL!

It’s great it doesn’t put out to much overspray. This is the first spray gun I ever owned. It is a very simple system.

I started off with a small 30gallon air compressor but I was getting a lot of moisture and it had a hard time keeping up. So I upgraded to an Ingersol Rand 60 gallon and built a custom aftercooler for the air and a couple filter driers. I am getting much better results now.

Only thing that worked well for me was a refrigerant air dryer, adding that made a huge difference...my machines do not like moisture.

Carl the airline right out of the head used to dump right into the tank putting really hot air right in. I bought that heavy duty transmission cooler and plumed through that before putting the air in the tank and the fan for the air compressor cools the cooler it works pretty well with the two separators at the tank and one 15ft from the spray gun or tool that I am using. Of coarse I am not running a shop like you but works well for the home garage!!

The cooler was from Amazon and I bought the mounting kit as well it worked good.

The company Hayden makes other sizes also. I liked this one because it’s threaded on the input and output sides.

I had the very brief pleasure to finally meet Jason in person and see his boat. We had about 30 minutes in the rain with my family sitting in the car, we were on the way to a surprise party.

Pictures almost don’t do it justice, we often see pictures and when you get up close it’s not quite perfect. Everything he’s touched on the boat is AAA work. Great guy, unbelievable work and very giving of his time with someone who had 30 minutes to see as much as possible.

Thanks Pete it was nice to meet you. Today I worked on the fly bridge overhang first I hated the little lip I tripped on all the time second It was a little spongy in the middle so I am hoping this will stiffen it up a little.

Cut the glass put some fillets in and layed up two layers of 1708. With just the two laminated pieces of 1/2” coosa glued in it stiffened it up some. Can’t wait to see how it feels with the glass on it. Hopefully the weather holds up and I can get it faired and painted.

Thanks for letting me stop by the other day! If I did not have another 70 miles to drive I would have had a few beers with you...

To all following this thread the "Snipe" is a work of art. The quality of craftsmanship of all the work is bar-none. I have always considered myself an above average guy when it comes to being able to do all kinds of things and Jason has showed me that he is on a different level. His willingness to share and help is another attribute that he has. I am glad that Jason is on this board because he has a lot to offer!

Question for you guys repowering with the cummins 5.9.

What is the distance from the inside of the hull to the center line of the Crankshaft? I'm going to have to move my shaft outboard about 3 inches to accommodate the Cummins from the Volvos

Rick I took some measurements for you the first is off of the outboard stringer

Yes there is a thruhull with a cap it was there when I bought the boat. I think it was intended to be a drain for the deck hatches.

With the clock ticking on good weather days I decided to spray some paint today! Despite the leaves,bugs,dirt,bird poop I got some paint on not to bad for an in the elements paint job. Now to hope the shine stays on overnight!! Spray and pray!!

So sadly I got home from work to find out I lost the gamble it rained and I lost the paint job. There were rain drops all in it. I guess that was just practice for next time. Start sanding and prepping hope I get a good day to spray again before the cold sets in.

Well it was looking good. Are you spraying AllGrip or Alexseal?

From what I understand, Alexseal is more forgiving of the cold.
