Distributor Module Failure
Question, I have gas 541's and last year the module went bad on the counter rotating engine. The coil in the cap was fine, the actual module went bad. We noticed that there was some oil in the distributor so we drilled a small hole to allow excess oil to drip. This winter, I put all new gauges and wiring harnesses for both engines. The other day I was cruising at 3000 RPM and noticed the tach was pinning at 5000 and flickering. Shortly after that backfire and it died. Swapped out cap (which is a GM one with coil built into cap), no go. Swap out the module and boom fires right off. I am at a loss as to why this is happening. Any thoughts?
Re: Distributor Module Failure
please see my post under PChauss's thread - check the position sensor inside the distributor. I had one go bad and got the same bouncing tach
