Re: H F D
Fathers, bless their hearts!
My first significant boat in my 20's was a 48' bridge deck cruiser. We lived aboard and cruised all over Puget Sound. It was a great boat. No comment from my father.
After three years we stepped up to a 52' ocean rigged fiberglass Atkins design sailboat. Substantial, 24 tons displacement. It was a wonderful home for us and our two kids for 13 years and a magnificent boat. We cruised all over the NW and up into British Columbia. This boat could handle anything and the guy who bought it from us took it on a two year trip around the world. No comment from my father.
After a couple months ashore I couldn't stand not having a boat and bought my B31 Amberjack. When I took it over to Eagle Harbor for my father to see he hobbled down the dock--he was using a walker by then--looked at the boat and said "You got yourself a real boat".
