Nice work.
Having an extra block laying around is always helpful.

Looking good...I certainly don't miss that part of the build, then again I don't miss much of any part of it.
Re: Cummins repower
Really nice. I was hoping you'd put motors with pistons in the boat, glad to see the complete engines in the latter pics, lol. Really nice work, a very lucky Bertram.

I bought the boat five years ago in Margate N.J. From a guy named Frank Gallagher. This was a picture when I bought it. The name was Vixen.

I built the battery box out of coosa and glassed structural fiberglass angle to the hull and bolted the box in so it is removable.

Looking great! Super clean install! When do you think you will be ready To launch?
Re: Cummins repower
Thanks Mark I am going to try for late summer for a sea trial but I guess it depends what I want to get finished 100% I am thinking just get it in the water then finish up other projects as I go. But the other half of me wants to finish everything first which means next year some time. I guess I will keep plugging along and see.

That is really nice work. It looks like you are not a novice at using fiberglass.

Re: Cummins repower
Thanks Tony hope your on the mend now. When I finish up I hope we have a rendezvous and I can meet some more of the guys!! In the meantime I will keep pushing ahead. I wired up some sensors on the engines I am adding boost pressure, gear oil pressure, gear oil temp and exhaust temp. I also started prepping the bilge for some awlgrip. Just waiting on a good day to paint. I got the backer pads installed for the sea cocks and made a few little pads with recessed studs for the bilge pumps.

Re: Cummins repower
I love those backer pads.

Re: Cummins repower
Nice work on the pads. Looks similar to the ones we made using the fiberglass plate McMaster sells. Except I did not add the studs before they were glassed to the hull. I drilled and tapped them and screwed the bolt into them.

Re: Cummins repower
Thanks Cam. Tony I used Garolite G10 from McMasterCarr and I drilled and tapped them as well I think they will work out nicely I bonded them in with west system Six ten. I plan to do them all the same way.
Jason
Re: Cummins repower
Shot the cockpit with 545 over the high build and did a final sand. Also primed the gears with 545 and sprayed awlgrip on the gears. Nice weather up here in the northeast this weekend. Hopefully this week I can spray the bilge and next weekend put the engines in for the last time.

Nice work on those engines. I regret not repainting mine when I repowered. They looked pretty good, but that Cummins paint just does not hold up.

Re: Cummins repower
Tony I wish I painted the engines with awlgrip as well but I only did the gears. The engines are rust-oleum if they don’t hold up well I will just pull them and repaint with awlgrip next time.

That Americoat 450H I think would have been a great choice to paint the engines. If I ever paint engines again I will only use 2-part paint.

Jason,
There are still hundreds of these little devils running up and down on the gravel roads and the rocky slopes of every Greek island...mostly rented by youth who can withstand the kidney toll.
My ex wife had a two stroke one in her youth too, a buddy just bought the newest version last year, which if you ask me, is 95% the same as the older model.
I took it for a ride and re-confirmed that with my back situation I’d rather abstain from such “devices”, there are people however who swear by it. My ex included.
I’d rather stick to my forester...

My wife pitches in every fall when we pull the boat and in the spring to get her ready to launch. In fact in her younger days, she used to help paint the bottom. Now it is waxing and helping with odds and ends when I need an extra set of hands.

Tony i am glad my wife loves it or i could never pull this off i spend a lot of my free time on working on the boat! Frank I went with the SMX digital gauges from Sea Board Marine. The controls Are Rollins super nice. I will be building a helm pod in the next few weeks.

Re: Cummins repower
Got the alignment right on today. I will check it when I splash and make adjustments. I also installed the dripless today. Baby steps but I am at least moving in the right direction!

Jason,
I am VERY impressed with your "get it done" attitude. Your work is exceptional on both your marine and terrain projects; and a very impressive shop helper as well. Can't wait to see the performance #s when you splash your 31.

Thanks! Tommy I keep pushing ahead trying to get her floating again! Today I bed the rudder ports and dry run the props. After family time at the beach of coarse.
