I thought I would pass this along. Will only work on 4-blade prop. I ordered a CV joint puller from e-bay for $17. There was a raised lip on the black clamp the I ground down so it would fit more snuggly around the shaft. I used the jack bolt from my harmonic balancer puller (not sure of the cost) and bought a high strength nut to match. I inserted two bolts behind the black clamp for extra "backing." Used a big crescent wrench to keep the nut on the jack bolt from turning. I was a little worried about the welds holding but no problem. Worked better than expected!
I only screwed the clamp hand tight -- will not scratch the shaft. Also, the clamp does not grab 360 deg around the shaft -- just about 1/3 at the top and 1/3 at the bottom. The clamp is 20mm wide. Possible to thread the hole. It is 30mm in diameter. Not sure what bolt size to use. The material is likely cheap steel -- not sure if the threads would deform under load. May be able to use a 1" bolt and nut -- I actually started this way until I remembered the bolt from my puller. The puller bolt was better because it had a centering tip that fit the centering hold on the end of the shaft.
Also -- the pics don't show the hardened steel pins that run from top clamp to bottom clamp thru the hole in the puller body.
