Lagun swivel
I'm excited to have bitten the bullet and purchased the Lagun swivel for my cabin.
With the layout I chose to modify my boat to, there was no salon table.
Not that it was super necessary to have one, as everything is done outside on deck, but there are 3-4 days in the whole summer where it is either too windy to eat outside, or it's too cold.
The swivel will go up against the stbd locker and the table surface will probably be triangular.
This is therefore a teaser thread of what's to come.
I'll post pics as I evolve.
Thanks.

Re: Lagun swivel
Yannis,
Are those plaid panels decorative? Just wondering if you could do a fold down table where those panels are and then raise your bench seat up to a 45 degree angle as a support. Could do whole length or a portion based on your bench seat and/or needs. A little more work than just installing the Lagun but would keep your current look.

Re: Lagun swivel
Mark, it cannot be done because where would you sit then?
Also, the Lagun can be removed completely if you don't need it.

Re: Lagun swivel
Yannis,
I see now. Couldn't see the underneath storage in the original pic. Was thinking of a concept similar to the fold down in front of your electrical panel but instead in the middle. Fold the middle section of your bech seat up for support and you would have had room for 1 on each side. Not so sure that will work with the recessed storage.

Yannis,
How did it turn out? Saw the pics with the cardboard. Did you get the table top installed on the bracket? Or will you put it on only when needed?

Re: Lagun swivel
Mark,
Don't you sometimes wish things could be done with the push of a button?
I called my carpenter and gave him the external dimensions of the 12 mm ply, plus teak veneer on both sides ( he told me that we should put veneer on both sides otherwise the ply will warp).
He needs some time to go press the veneer.
Then I’ll hand him the cardboard to cut to shape.
I hope I’ll be able to have something to show soon.
Hang in there!

Re: Lagun swivel
Yannis,
Plywood has less of a tendency to warp but it still does especially if exposed to moisture so you are probably better off doing bothe sides for extra stability. Plus it will look nicer when folded up!

Re: Lagun swivel
This will be a temporary table surface.
When the dimensions are finalized after this summer’s use, and if this surface is still adequate, I will have my carpenter do a teak rim.

Re: Lagun swivel
Done and happy! This thing swivels all over the place...serves as eating table for two or three, bar, serving bar...you can almost pretend you're James Bond.
When you're over and done with, you just pick it up and store it up against the bulkhead, or inside the hanging locker.

Necessity is the mother of invention!
Always need a place to put a drink when eating, always need a place to for food when drinking...except of course when you don't.
Great idea brought to fruition Yannis!

Re: Lagun swivel
Yannis,
Wait! Did I not see the button for a pop up bar with shaken not stirred martini. Or better yet, the button that makes Ursula Andress appear (as she was in 1962 even though I wasn't born yet). LOL
Glad you got it finished and even better that it does as much or more than expected.

Interesting invention. I have never seen that before. Great idea. Now you are all set for cruising the summer away.

Looks cool Yannis. Glad it turned out well for you.
Re: Lagun swivel
Thanks guys, you're all invited to test it out with me!
Mark, the button is purposely hidden inside the hanging locker.
Once you press it, all Bond girls drop from the flybridge cavity where they are normally hidden. I didn't want to mention this trick to preserve their anonymity, but since you asked I couldn't resist.
They each hold a component of a shaken Martini, one holds the bottle, one the ice, one the shaker...who holds the olive it's her turn...hahaha.
