Spring 2019 Paint Job

I never really got a chance to post any pictures of last winters project and figured now is as good of a time as any to post some pics. Got rid of the black stripe, the bow rail, moved a few things around on the deck and moved the running lights into the hardtop. I couldn't have done it with out help of JP as usual. Hope everyone is doing well, Jr.

Thank you guys. No Tony, I did all the prep work in the backyard and then we brought it over to Barnagate Bay Marina where they let us set up a booth and JP sprayed it.

Also, please, excuse my ignorance, but what is the use of a tower? To have a better view of the fish? Thank you.

Yannis, you are correct. By elevating your line-of-sight by even 6-8 feet, your vision watching baits being trolled on or just under the surface is greatly enhanced. While billfishing it's not unusual for a marlin or sailfish to swim under the bait momentarily before hitting it. Expert fishermen (of which I am not) want to see the action in real time so they can get the rod in hand, not just the exploding water after the hit. I'm usually half asleep when the captain yells "get ready, there's a shadow under the right short rigger"!

I was thinking that the captain would focus forward to see if any fish is visible, like jumping out of the water or something, so that he would steer the boat towards there...
Brilliant, so after these proven skills of mine I apply my candidature as a helper fisherman in case any of you guys needed an experienced hand lol!

In my area I use the Tower mainly to spot debris when running in slop. A bit higher vantage point and what laying in the troughs of the waves can be seen then avoided. After 5 or 6 seasons I finally had enough of that. Put a tower on and that fixed that problem.

Fishing it can be a big plus too...as said seeing fish, weed lines, activity its better up a bit higher. You know as its similar to your bridge as compared to driving from a lower station.

My brother in law used to be an excellent spray paint guy. Been painting cars since he was 18, for a living. Even he has messed up and had to respray, but it is tough to get it to look good. Plus all the crap you have to wear while you do it. He paid the price from when he was younger and used to just wear a mask, because it was too hot in the booth. Back then in the late 60's when he started that is the way it was done. No one thought it would be a problem.

He has fought a bad liver since he was 30 and now Parkinson's. All due to absorbing the dam chemicals for his first 12 years doing it. After he first got sick he made sure he covered himself up but it was already too late.

I'll agree the lions share of the job is in the prep...just can't get good results with bad prep.

I found pulling the trigger on the spray gun pretty easy and can even do a couple good strokes if panels are at the right height and small enough so they only need a "couple" good strokes. Cause after a couple or a move comes an "oh boy" and that just ain't good, especially when a whole boat needs to be done.
