Tranny Fluid Recommendation---Borg wARNER vELVET

Post by CaptDana »

Guys-- Well--last friday I hauled out and replaced a coupler and shaft--back in by 9 pm Friday nite--and off running trips this past weekend. thanks for those that helped or tried to. My tranny was bucking and making noise bad--it's a Velvet Drive--with reduction-- Fluid Low--added fluid-- bucking has stopped This tranny has about 6500 hrs on it--What is the best fluid to put in this--30 W, dexron III?? or other--Second--will Lucas or any of these other miracles workers(self proclaimed) help? Thanks in advance

I put Amsoil synthetic ATF in mine. I can't remember the exact specification though, but I think it is Dexron.

I had a slipping problem once on an old 73C, since I am in awarmer than usual climate (CostaRica,)I was told to change fromA.T.F. to 30 wt. and the problem went away. Since then I have replaced the engine and tranny and went back to the red stuff without mishap.
