Deck project

Post by coolair »

I started the tank replacement some years ago. This winter I finally gave up and brought it to someone to put the deck back on. What was supposed to be a quick trip in the yard and "I just want to get the deck finished so I can use the boat!" Turned into 4.5 months in the shed at the yard and much much more. I opened the worm hole when I decided to pull the engines. Since the engines were out, besides doing the deck, he did new engine beds, paint the topside, hull and bottom. Then my brother pulled the rub rail off before I could say no, so that was changed too. The engines were a project all in themselves. Completely redone, new ignition, new wiring harnesses, gauges, etc. My credit card is still smoldering... Engines are not back in yet, but boat is out of the yard which was costing a fortune. I never thought i would see the day it looked this good. Still have a ways to go. But with a little luck she will be catching fish very soon. I do not have any good pictures of the deck and it is really dirty in this picture.
BUT just to make us all feel alittle better about how much money we spend. Be glade you aren't the owners of the boat in the 3rd picture that is ground down to bare glass. It came in for alittle work and they discovered that the outer 2 layers of glass were almost completely de-laminated from the rest of the boat. Their bill is alot...

Your boat is looking amazing! Did you make that deck or is it a cabrera or similar? That sure is sweet either way!

The boat looks great. Glad the trailer worked out for you.

Must feel good to get it out of the yard. I don’t begrudge folks making a living, but I’m sure glad I have a place to store mine in my shop.

Hopefully you’ll be getting her wet soon.

Thank you!

Tony
Let me know if that fixed the 3rd picture.

Danny I agree. But man, take it easy on the guy with the small old boat! Especially when you have a yard full of 60+ footers.
Thanks

Wow, she's looking great !!

Won't be long before your turning heads passing people by on your way out to the fishing grounds.

While your putting stuff together, I'm pulling stuff apart...but still plan to be fishing soon.

It won't be this year, but maybe next the cosmetics on mine will start being addressed.
But will be a long time before mine comes close to looking like yours...if ever.

Guy with that boat down to glass in the back...think I'd say leave it, paint it, keep well insured.
That has got to be some massive bill.

Keep it going and get out there!

Looks sharp.
I think you have met the definition of project creep.
In the end it's all worth it.

Matt, Well Done, keep the momentum going!
What color is the hull? Looks to be a slight Blue tint, shows well...

Looking great Matt! Nice work, pretty boat. I REALLY like the braided SS gear cooler hoses... who made them up for you?
