Rub rails again - cover over top?

Post by Sean B »

Has anyone found a vinyl rub rail that can snugly fit over top the original aluminum one? I’ve been wanting to replace mine since forever (B33 Sportfish) and it occurs to me that covering over it would likely be just as good (and a lot easier) as a remove and replace project. I’ve looked but don’t find anyone who makes such a thing.

How is the 33?
Is it an alu profile into which slides a rubber rail?
If yes, then what do you want to do, change the rubber, or stick on the existing rubber another top layer?
If yes, you have to make sure that the moment you rub against something the whole thing will not disintegrate...or else you might be looking for just another rubber rail as your existing one, which might be difficult to find.
Why dont you snap a cross section pic of your alu profile to see if such a rubber insert exists?
