Bertram Rendezvous in Greenport in September!
Hi all,
It looks like via Facebook that a Bertram rendezvous has formed and will take place in Greenport at our old stomping grounds! September 7th-9th at Mitchell Park Marina in Greenport! And what is kinda cool is that Bertram corporate will be participating and will have the new 61' model present at the marina as it will be enroute to or from the Newport show! I think this is really cool actually!!!
I am going to make every effort to get over on Alchemy for sure! I know nothing about dinner plans etc at this point, but I did want to spread the word.
I think there also a get together in Provincetown the first weekned of August, but I know I cannot make that one.
These are open (as have all of ours been!) to boats of all sizes so it should be a lot of fun!
Hope you can consider it!

Re: Bertram Rendezvous in Greenport in September!
I corresponded with the organizers yesterday and they have only had 4 boats confirm registration/reservations with the marina so far. They are wrestling with how to handle dinner, and I have filled them in on how it has been done over the past few years. What I can pass on is that the more people who sign up and correspond, it will be more helpful for planning purposes.

I would love to attend but I am up in the air right now. My wife is having some medical issues and we will not know for another 6 to 8 weeks if the recent surgery she had will fix the problem.
By the way, what tickets and website is Bob talking about for free tickets?

Re: Bertram Rendezvous in Greenport in September!
Must check the calendar as I committed months ago to perform a wedding ceremony for the daughter of a long-time friend on either the 8th or the 9th and that is a must.
Checked with father of the bride - wedding is on the 9th. Signed on with Bertram and received two tickets for the 8th. Very painless process.

Hi all. Went out to Greenport today. Some very nice boats. People were great. Went on the new 61. Wow, but Not one person from Bertram Asked me or my wife if they could help us. Any questions nothing. At lest 6 Bertram people on board. I'm new here but there was no signs nothing to show a Bertram show was going on. Wow.
Sorry for the rant but had to say something.

Re: Bertram Rendezvous in Greenport in September!
Don't worry .. it's a Bertram thing ... noses in the air and all that ... if you need to know how much the 61 costs.. you obviously cant afford it .... the Hatteras people.. on the other hand would go out of their way to make you feel like part of the family .. even once you told them you had a 31' rolling little death trap ... they would ignore your faux paux ..... you're lucky you found out early how the bert people roll
You know I'm just kidding .... if I didn't have violent seasickness ,( even when I look at pictures of a 31.. I have to vomit) I'd own one .... well .. that and the donestic partner would have me living in the summer camp single wide we have in the mountains .. if I bought one

Timmy there was a hatterassssss there and they stuck it in there far corner where it belongs so no one could see it next to all the nice boats we had to leave today ,had a safe ride home in a seaworthy boat

Don't worry about factory people they have nothing to do with us. When they introduced the 35 at the Lauderdale show and had a mini party, Pat and I went. The intro in the media show had a 31 that Pat and I built. When I mentioned that the designer and builder of that 31 was here, they could have cared less.
The Bertram of old is not the Bertram of today.
Re: Bertram Rendezvous in Greenport in September!
The Bertram factory folks seemed indifferent to the 31 guys, but during the few minutes we were there they did walk over to look a the beautiful B25 Moppie that came in. The big restored Hatt was really nice--just a beautiful boat. Got to say a real quick hello to Charlie, Bob, Dug, Randall and Mike. I should've been more social but my Dad wanted to get lunch--steamers on the pier. Good time.

I spent fri evening on the 61 until the we hours of the morning, the capt and the sales rep were very nice people that were very interested in new ideas to better there product.we think that they did a great job,we had to leave early due to weather ,they wanted to put the big Bertram emblem on our boat but we had to leave, there were more boats at this event than any other that we have been to and we have been to all .we are just sad we missed folks that we have not seen in a while but we are home safely and had a great time

Re: Bertram Rendezvous in Greenport in September!
I thought the guys from Bertram were very gracious hosts, I don't think many of us fit the potential buyers demographic, after all they are looking to sell a very expensive boat and none the less had us crawling all over the boat, asking questions etc. They were also very tolerant of my boys climbing all over everything which was more then I could have asked for.
The expanded group that included "non 31 Bertram's" was just added fun and really a nice bunch of folks who have the same passion as us in a slightly different package. It was nice to make some new friends, catch up with some old ones and talk about the ones no longer with us.
Standing out in the rain all day wasn't ideal but none the less we had a blast....

i wouldn`t say without incident!!! we were traveling home and you can hear the distinctive "screaming sound of new cowl air induction" we just installed so we came to the new buoy line that the CG moves from south to north because of drifting sand from winter northeasterners. look like a race course so we crank her up to 34 knots going tight to buoys with 90 degree turns and wild sound from the cockpit. not a boat in sight then radar shows a blip YEP here comes two coast guard boats they put on lights and boarded us, it turned out they just wanted to see the boat and how can a 31 foot boat turn like that i went into the BMW type roller bearing steering and we installed and it because a nice friendly boat discussion phoenix and two coast guard patrol boats alongside. moving right along great rendezvous and outstanding job from the Bertram factory. one thing noted sitting alongside the captain of the 61 the fuel burn readout reached 210 gallons an hour at 46 knots!

Re: Bertram Rendezvous in Greenport in September!
I have to say I was very impressed with how gracious the Bertram team was.
As a long time organizer of get togethers, Bertram of old rarely asked input, and rarely did much to support other than throw a sleeve of hats in the mail. Maybe a couple coozies and a boarding mat one year. I offered the opportunity and outright asked if they would like to participate and without fail was told no. Not only did Bertram show, but they let us crawl anywhere we wanted, provide unsolicited input, and take us on MULTIPLE sea trials. Then food and drink on their dime 100%.
I know not all saw what I and others did. But reality they have already far eclipsed what many other years didn't give. Yes, the boat was there due to the transit to the Newport Boatshow, but they could very well have just run on by and waved. They outdid themselves. No one is perfect, but they did a great job. Top it off (yep, head sweller) Tommy Thompson ran out specifically to take a picture of Alchemy as we left with the 61 right alongside, and posted it on they Bertram Facebook page. The 31 looked pretty damned good next to the latest creation.
It was a lot of fun, and I have to say just a wonderful reminder of what these boats have done in my life. Provide wonderful friends, who I have known now for nearly 20 years. I've watched kids grow up (Jr!!!!) and become men. I've enjoyed knowing so many people from UV, Walter, Sonny, of course Patrick (who kinda was there on a boat docked next to me wildly enough...) to John Maglio with is now wife and 7month old daughter who loved yanking my ear and fell asleep on Alchemy, (the greatest compliment!). Mike O, Randall, Bob Lico, Neil and Kathy and Jr. and all the others, it was great to see you, and great to meet the new folks.
A good get together for sure. And I am thankful for what Bertram brought. And yes, I walked away with a couple new koozies. But they were there in a bucket for all to help themselves! LOL!

Re: Bertram Rendezvous in Greenport in September!
I'd have to echo what Dug said regarding Bertram and I was surprised to hear the "rant" about Bertram staff. Earlier this year I was in Tampa and we took a tour of the facility, we emailed ahead of time letting them know we were in town, they responded quickly, invited us out to HQ and welcomed us. It was great all around to see the 35 assembly line and they had just "popped" the deck for the 61. When we left they gave us a bunch of Bertram swag. First class and friendly people, before, during and after our visit.
I wasn't at Greenport, but correct me if I'm wrong that this event wasn't organized by Bertram Corporate. Based on Bertram's Instagram feed over the weekend, it looks they made sure everyone got a boat ride on the new 61 who wanted one, catered food and drinks, and per Dug had plenty of koozies when they otherwise could have skipped it all together (previous Bertram ownership).
I was hoping to hear what people thought of the 61, instead to hear complaints that the Bertram people didn't talk to them... how about the old saying "you don't know if you don't ask?" If i was actively shopping for a ~$3mm dollar boat I wouldn't need someone to ask me if I needed help, they would know it.
Ok, end of my rant. Now, how was the 61? Looked like the weather was snotty, what did everyone think of her?

Re: Bertram Rendezvous in Greenport in September!
The only negative I could come up with on the 61 was at 5'8" I couldn't see the bow chock from the helm. I believe someone said they already plan on moving the helm 14" forward to fix that issue. Also the hand rail on the side of the bridge ends and they're is nothing to hold onto, you still have a few feet before you get up on to the bow. I watched Kathy make her way back to the cockpit after tending the bow line and it was a bit of a tight rope walk.
Otherwise it was just an incredible boat everything inside and out was finished perfectly, unbelievable use of space and design. Front windows are huge plus, great salon, bridge and the staterooms. Cabinetry was unreal from the woodwork to the hardware. The full beam stateroom under the salon was something, especially the cushioning under the carpet. I didn't go out for a ride but nobody was disappointed, the engine room was pretty incredible.

Re: Bertram Rendezvous in Greenport in September!
Our little boats have created a lot of true friendships as dug has stated the 61 need some changes and Bertram corporate knows that .i told them that we little people put them on the map and they want to stay there, we feel as though they did a great job and wish them all the luck, next yrs get together should be as good or better I just hope someone got a pic of capt pats twin on the 25 flybridge,my son told me that capt pat was here in a 25 he has know capt pat fo,r more than half his life and he is 20. God bless the faithful

I went up to the bow (the boat needs railing).
It has a very impressive bow chock. Damn near as nice as the 31.
