media blasting

Post by thuddddddd »

Has anyone DIY'd their boat? Due to the crappy prep the last owner or 2 did to my 34 I need to take it all down.. Had a few estimates 5-10k .. the guy that came and looked figured around 5ish, and 2 days work. I can rent a dry ice blaster for around 1100 for a week or a soda blaster for 700.00 .. It "seems" the dry ice would be a little for gentle ..... and potentially less cleanup ... I've got access to a giant compressor , so thats not a problem, or expense.

Ardd talking about blasting the whole hull or just the bottom? Not sure I would want to try that unless I practiced on a Hatteras first.

All joking aside, I would leavdd that yo a pro. You can do a lot a damage if you are not careggul.

Watched too many guys come out from underneath the tented up area all suited up about to pass out from the heat.
Don't forget to add the cost of tape, plastic material, suit and respirator and disposal of the paint.

One job it's worth paying someone else to to.

He has to get close to it in order to work the soil and plant the flowers. Oh if only UV and Capt. Pat were around. They would have fun with this one.
