Back in the saddle again!
Hello to All,
Well after 4 hard long years without a b31 my father is once again a steward of a very custom 31 bahia mar. The boat needs a lot of love but has some really cool features and I do not think there is another bahia mar like this one. She is powered by 300hp cummins, has a custom tower, generator, ac, and had all custom molds made for the forward and rear cockpit decks, and both port and starboaRd helm areas. The small cabin was also customized. She will eventually be moved to Delaware and she will be named HOGIE, which is a family nickname. The boat was previously in Shinnecock and was named PAPA.
Best Regards to All,
Chris Holgerson

AWESOME!!!! I always knew he would after seeing what could be done with a little work. He is such a great guy. I told Art Jr. I would sell him the name “Priceless” for half what I paid for it and “Priceless II”for 1/4. On another note my friend Gary went fishing with me last December and loved the 31 Bahia Mar so much he bought “Stacey” 2 weeks ago so Indian River Marina will soon have 3 Bertram 31 Bahia Mars in residence. Probably a good photo op. Will post when available. May start a fishing team.

Hi Pat,
Dad said he will let you keep the name but he needs more joint juice : ) He is on the waiting list at Indian River. We are not sure when the boat will be moved down there. We have a lot of work to do.
Regards,
Chris

Since buying his boat I am the team doctor for the marina. Let me see what I can do.
Here’s Priceless at Worton Creek before yesterday’s 7 hour Delaware bay salt spray extravaganza. Spent all day today getting her back to “Art Condition “.

Re: Back in the saddle again!
Hi Mike,
I hope all is well. The previous owner put a ton of money into it with over the top modifications but unfortunately it has not been well cared for in years and it is in desperate need of a new steward. I hope we can bring her back to life. We already got the engines and generator fired up and running. The next couple of days will be spent cleaning and ordering parts.
Regards,
Chris

Re: Back in the saddle again!
Post some pics---is the boat a sea foam green? I am pretty sure it was docked at Oaklands at one time and dry docked Hampton Boat Works.
They spent a lot of money making molds that they were hoping to sell---not sure how far they got with that project.

Re: Back in the saddle again!
The boat was docked at Oaklands and has been on the hard at the old scopinich yard for some time. She is painted light blue. We cleaned it up today and I am not allowed to post photos yet. We will post when she is floating and like Pat said in "Art Shape". That means I have a ton more cleaning to do.
Re: Back in the saddle again!
Congrats. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures, as another Bahia owner, I'm always looking for ideas, especially around the engine boxes. I would like to eliminate the "gap" between the box and the gunwale, but I don't think the boxes for the FBC would work. Any ideas that prevent me from reinventing the wheel anywhere on the boat are always greatly appreciated. Congrats again on the new ride!

Re: Back in the saddle again!
Thank you. This boat has eliminated the gap between the engine box and the gunwale. It also has an elevated forward deck eliminating the extra high helm seats.
Re: Back in the saddle again!
On my Bahia Mar I found out that my Yeti 160 fits like it was custom made for between the engine boxes. Had a slightly thicker cushion made and we have a sun pad/resting spot for the ride in and out to the canyons. With the addition of beanbags “Fat Tony” can recline in comfort while eating Cheeze Its. That’s Mike “ Shenanigans” Garry at the helm. The cooler acts as our ice box/fishbox and also cuts down on engine noise considerably. I put in a ton of sound deadening when I got the boat and it is markedly quieter. The cushions look fancy but are made to get wet and full of fish blood with a quick wash down. https://i.imgur.com/bsPIvu0.jpg

Looks like you hired a Captain already. I am sure there will be a lot of great memories made on her. Best of luck.

Getting closer to splashing.
Re: Back in the saddle again!
Chris glad to see you back on the horse...I bought parts from the molds they used to make this Bahia Mar, ocean Innovations, she was in much better shape the last time I saw her. Good luck getting her back in shape. BH

Re: Back in the saddle again!
Hogie made its first trip from Shinnecock to Lindenhurst, roughly 60 miles. We ran outside from Shinnecock inlet and came in Moriches inlet then ran inside the rest of the way. At 2300 rpm, she was cruising 24 knots, at wot 3000rpm we were cruising 32 mph. Pretty smooth sailing for a boat that has not been in the water for 4 years.
Re: Back in the saddle again!
That’s good stuff you will get the bugs worked out as you go along. At least she is back in and running.

Hi Craig,
South sixth street. Down the block from Raybo. Almost at the end on your right hand side.

Hi Craig,
The boat is going to be heading south on Sunday if everything goes according to plan. I am at the boat now and will be here a little while longer. Doing some final adjustments. Call me on my cell (631 )275-1365.
