Hi There ....
Anyone know a good shipper to bring my Bahia from Lauderdale to Long Island.
I've heard that there are big $$ associated with coming into NY, if that is case, it can get a drop in Jersey and I will run fom there.

Charlie Johnson had a shipper he liked that he used to bring his boat from LI to here (Wilmington, NC) and back again a year later. If He doesn't respond here drop me an email (IRGuy@aol.com) and I can give you his number.

Steve, can you wait until fall? Thats when all the empty runs are headed north for much less $$$. I get it if you say no, but have to ask!

Let me ask my dad who brought his north to LI in 2014. He was very happy, and they were reasonable.

Dug....point well taken, but want to use it summer in NY and need to free-up dock here in FL.
As for running it north:
-I don't have the time
-Would consider more if it were diesel

31's are a great boat...but that's one long ride in a small boat, even if diesel.

Steve boro boat hauling is in our town,if you do ship it to no give me a call and you can drop it at our marina,and tie up at our house for a night if need be ,joule yacht transport is another option also out of nj

I used Lighthouse Boat Transport to bring my 28 from Long Island to Stuart--they are based in Lindenhurst. They took good care of the boat, but were about 4 weeks behind schedule on the promised delivery date.

Steve, it was the end of August 2015 and they charged $3500, I think. I remember that if I had sent the boat south in June it would have been about $500 less.

All these guys have figured it out so that the amount they charge is almost the same cost as if you ran her on her bottom all the way home. So no matter which way you go the cost is almost a push either way.

Tony- Think your right on that statement. Dad was almost dollar for dollar hauling or running down to Florida with his. But when you consider a small boat may not want to run outside at certain places...the extra time AKA- transient dockage adds up, figure bringing a guy or two along for extra eyes / alternate running boat...you kinda have to feed him, that adds up, some sporty weather eats more fuel or keeps you tied up both adding to cost. The of course IF you have mechanical problems or ground jumps up and hits you...that can be some additional coin. I know he really wanted to run his down on its own bottom, but when all was said and done...The known couple bucks more to transport became the less expensive alternative.

That said, my friend that has the 35(?) Strike with twin 270 Cummins...he asked his father go down to Florida and take a look at boat on a Friday, liked what he saw, made the deal, fueled up and headed North, pulled into marina a few days later. Think it was stopping for fuel, sleep, one impeller and ran outside the rest of the time. Then again my friend never played with a full deck but in comparison to his dad he seemed perfectly normal. Recall being out at Monster ledge on friends 48' Viking, getting knocked around pretty good, talking about cutting day short and having him go by in his 25 Formula heading out...

Anyway...yes, pricing is pretty close till its the season boats are traveling the other way and bargains can be found. My dad got a real good deal by being on Stand-bye. If a truck was heading to Florida empty or had enough room to fit his boat, he had to be ready to haul and go at a moments notice.

Same way with mass transportation. I commuted to NY for close to 30 years. Every so often I would calculate the cost of driving into NY vs the train. Parking, tolls, gas and all that. Dam if the cost of the train was always almost the same as driving then you have the wear and tear on the car to consider also.

It is like going to a casino, house always wins.
