Even with 4 x 627 HP egg beaters it's only 2,508 HP total... Somewhat underpowered IMHO for a 55'... I also dislike the idea of gas engines on principle... Gas being far more dangerous then diesel... There's a reason naval vessels with gas engines are like hens teeth...

Yeah yeah... I know some of the PT boats were gas powered... The reason being that in those days diesels didn't have the power density of gas engines...

Having said that, It's no skin off my nose and it would be a boring world if everybody liked the same things... So, to each their own...

If this were my boat and I wanted something exotic to power it I'd go for 2 small diesels for maneuvering and cruising plus a gas turbine for high speed...

I will just stand back and watch! I wonder what the fuel burn is?

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see where he has built anything over 18 feet long. Pretty big jump to 55.

A pair of C18 Cats will cost about the same as the four outboards. Probably last a bit longer, too. Obviously there's a space trade off.....

Except for the fuel burn (that will sound ...funny), sitting on 2-3 tons of gasoline is like wanting to play "gagarin" without having been to space school at all !!!
