teak step pads

I need/want some teak step pads.
I believe that the originals were strips of teak in an aluminum frame
It may be "corny", but I would like to find a pair ...... anyone know who made them or where they can be gotten ?

I found replacements for the pads on my 28 a few years ago at Freeport Marine--they should be on their website. They were the exact same size, but the screw holes were in slightly different places.

What they show in their catalog are not the original ones that were strips of teak in a frame.
They carry some pvc ones too, if you look towards the end of the catalog.
If you find any originals I'm interested too. Thanks.
Now that I'm thinking about it, a pic would do. I'll have my carpenter do replicas.

Take a measurement on the step. If I remember right they are made like the pad. Maybe you could make a pad out of an old step.

You guys may be talking about the 'Garelick' brand 'EEz-In' Traction Step Plates................which, like all things good, seem to have gone by the wayside in lieu of Starboard, PlasTeak and whatever other 'synthetic' crap instead..........

I looked up my old label from when I bought mine [yes I throw all my boat related labels in a now massive file wallet]........these Traction Step Plates used to come in 9 different variations of 3 different sizes and all are apparently no more..........I'll spare you the details of the various options............ but mine, as shown in the photo below, are the model # 26327 size 5 1/2" x 12" 'Anodized Clear Satin Finish with Teak Inserts' option.

Yannis: the teak inserts are about 1/4" high x 1/4" wide give or take.....I re-routed new teak inserts for mine a few years back and spent some time trimming further with a model knife to fit them in the grooves relatively tightly.......to make from scratch all you need is some teak, an aluminum backing with a lip either side and you can rout the piece of teak with grooves and 5200 it to the aluminum and counter sink 4 mounting screws at each corner.............



On a happier note, after 30 years of working my balls off and wishing for, I closed on a canal side property here last month and have been fixing the place up to move myself and my beloved [Bertram 28] there hopefully sometime early in the new year or sooner! Seeing as I have 160' on the canal and only a 28' boat needless to say if any of you visit here free dockage is available!

Yes, these are the ones. I'll look around in the marina for a 42, I think 42's had them on, and try to copy them.
On the other hand, I think I've seen somewhere a very similar skid pad that doesn't have an aluminum backing; the teak strips are sikaflexed or screwed directly onto the gunnel. They seemed nice when I saw them. I think I've also seen some made of metal (copper?) bars, not too bad either.
Usually these projects are for those who are already finished with all essentials and are looking into ... new ways to keep busy!
I like your snap-on retractable fender holders. Unless they are magnum champagne bottle holders !
