In 1453, when the Ottomans took over the eastern Roman empire, the Byzantium, and established themselves in Constantinople, hence Istanbul, one of the titles in the courtyard of the Sultan was that of the "sfougokolarios". It was a supreme privilege to be holding the title of the person who would sweep clean the @rse of the Sultan. He would sit under the elevated toilet seat of the Sultan and would take care of the dirty work of cleaning him from underneath and disposing of the feces. No offence,of course, to the persons actually seen under the giga toilet seat in the pic, this was just a comment of historic relevance.
