Re: Launch Day
I envy you, as I'm 15-20 days behind.
What is this pole on the stb engine?
Do you have steps on the stb side to go up?
Thanks.

Re: Launch Day
when you have spent fifty years abusing your lower back and no longer can contort your body into a letter U when you land a shark, tuna you get smart like mike and install a "gin pole"just tail rope fish and pull tail rope to clevis on block and tackle and lift fish out of water (while standing straight up) then gaff head of fish to and pull over gunwale.head of shark is facing transom (very smart). he put a step on gin pole to eliminate stumbling on that poorly designed Bertram ladder while assending to bridge when you have to start engine immediately as fish attemps to go under boat.

Re: Launch Day
Thanks Cpt. I put a newly made triple cushion on my stb engine, as I don't fish or eat fish.
I admit she's the best "sitting" B I've seen; if she's like this on the stb side too , then he who put the weights in, knew what he was doing...

Re: Launch Day
unbeknown to me while applying the teak oil on covering boards some oil dripped on hull.the oil dried and i had to bent over the gunnel down to water line to remove residue so this morning my back is killing me so as i view the gin pole i reassure myself how smart a add on this becomes on a 31 used for offshore fishing.
boat looks great mike lets get a day offshore

Re: Launch Day
Pretty boat, Mike. Two questions for you -- is that a solas raft forward of the helm, and if memory serves me correctly (keep in mind I did have a fractured skull so stuff prior to 0ctober 2010 is sketchy at times), but the wing you have your ginpole mounted to - I think there were only 3 1/4 20s that held my in place -- did you rebrace for the ginpole? I'm guessing you probably have something going to the stringer below.

Re: Launch Day
Bingo. The gin pole goes down (and is bolted to) the shelf that the batteries sit on.TailhookTom wrote:I'm guessing you probably have something going to the stringer below.

The raft is a six man SOLAS certified raft from Viking. I always have 6 survival suits on board, a 16' Para-tech parachute sea anchor, 1200' of 1/2" line, a second heavier danforth anchor, a host of type 1 life jackets with strobes, a few inflatable life vests with integral harnesses, additional harnesses, elastic safety tethers, enough flares to start a war, and a stainless 9mm (in case a war breaks out.....).
If you have AIS, my MMSI number is 338136565.

Very nice. Glad to see I was not the only one who is running late. I went in on Saturday.

Re: Launch Day
i build a enormous brace/support between stringers and bilge green glass and lifted a 496 pounder with the gin pole.the boat actually lean over quite a bit with two guys pulling on the block and tackle plus the fish.i carry the same 6 man raft and safety equipment but a little more fire power!

Show off! Very nicely laid out and kept.
Mikey, I still haven't gotten my de-winterizing done. Maybe next week . . . or the week after.
The list gets longer and life moves on, but my blow boat is launched and we are currently third in the Spring Series.
Got to go fishing!!!!

Re: Launch Day
mike using one of my wife`s decorating words Vignette .the cockpit is white, engine covers, bulkhead, under the bridge overhang, the cockpit side panels is also white so the beautiful wooden door becomes a focal point.thus the word vignette.how if the cockpit sole was teak along with bulkhead and overhand the door would be become a moot point .this is the words of a exceptional keen eye certainly not me.maybe teak covering boards to draw your eye to the door .keeping in mind the perfectionist built the door -------what can i say a million times better then Bayliner white formica!

Mike,
I fell for that once before...but I can tell.
I can tell that's just a piece of wood made to look like a door...looking closely I can see the wood grain coming thru. He's a shrewd one for sure! That Randall...almost got me again.
