Bertram 26

Post by buzzk »

I'm looking at a Bertram 25 with twin Mercury Horizon 350 MPI inboards. Does anyone know anything about the performance of a 26 with inboards? Also what's the deal on inboard Mercury engines such as gas burn and reliability. I know nothing about gas inboards. Thanks

I don't have any knowledge of how the B26 will run with twin 350s but I suspect very well. My B28 cruises at 21 burning about 20 gph. You are fuel injected and should see much higher speeds with less fuel burn. The mercruisers are good engines in my opinion. My first set had over 2000 hours on them. Adequate maintenance and they will run well for you. Can you post a link of the boat? Good luck!

I thought this was a very cool site. Seems accurate based on the few checks I have done.

The 25 & 26 are completely different boats. The 25 is the original Ray Hunt hull (20-25-31) and the 26 I "believe" is a Napier hull. In the inboard configurations, the 26 is direct drive with engines mid-ship and the 25 is V-drive with the engines aft. The 26 is much more like a 28 than it is a 25.

I owed a 25 years ago. It was a great little boat but I don't want anymore outdrives. I'm undecided about inboards on the 26 and I may wait for one with outboards. Right now I own a 33 Bertram which I may down size to a 26 or I may just get something like a 26 and leave it in Florida.

I had a 25 with inboard v-8 and v-drives
It had a great ride for a 25 foot
but hell to work the engines
changing the inside spark plugs was a challenge
still a real nice boat

I'm looking at a 26 not a 25. I wrote 25 on the first post by mistake.
