Frank...

Looks as if Arthur will skirt us and hit you.. I imagine you are as busy as a one armed paperhanger right now. Jim Cantore is in Hatteras on TV right now dramatizing everything.

As a first responder you can't run and hide like the rest of us.. so stay safe!

It's not looking good here in Morehead City the eye walls 25 miles away and I'm getting gusts to 50 MPH at my house now.

At about 18:00 hrs we had the most severe winds, probably 45 knots with gusts to 60, and alternating medium and heavy rainfall.. now (about 22:00 hrs) it is about 25 knots and light rain. I doubt that there was any severe damage except for tree limbs coming down. It looks like Buzz in Morehead City and then the Outer Banks area will see more than we had.

Hope all you guys to our NE are OK. I'll be watching the weather closely.

No serious damage here at all (in Wilmington, NC).. just a couple of tree branches down.. boats in our community are all OK except for one CC that apparently didn't have a working bilge pump. It was riding very low in the water this AM but didn't sink. All in all we were very lucky. The eye stayed far enough off shore as it passed by us, so all we had was moderate rain/wind, but it hit the Morehead City/Beaufort area dead on. I hope they are OK up there.

Carteret County, of which Morehead City is a part, had little damage and no injuries or fatalities. We got lucky that the storm was fast moving. The biggest problem was (is) power outages. We lost power last night around 10. For us, it was restored at 9:30 this morning.Plenty of folks are still without it though. I put my boat on the hill yesterday. It did just fine. Will pick it up tomorrow.

Terry..

Glad all you guys up in God's country were spared any damage. It looked as if Arthur was making a bee line to Morehead City.

While I am adressing something to you let me say Charlie and I enjoyed spending some time with you at the rendevous. Tommy and all the rest of the guys certainly put on a great weekend. You certainly made us feel at home!

Hatteras Island had some flooding I think about 2-3' at the worst spots. I am glad Aurther was not a hugh storm and moved fast.

We had the coolest, nicest 4th of July on the Chesapeake that I can remember. Breezy, but nice.
