Make sure that the old rudder ports have not gotten out of round, over the years the action of the rudder shafts which are hard stainless against the softer bronze rudder ports will elongate the opening. either replace them if they are uot of round or have a couple of Delryn bushings made up to take up the slop. Other than that it's fairly easy remember to use flax packing and use prop speed if you believe in it on the metal running surfaces. Happy Holidays all.

I had the oversize rudders installed in September. We had to install new tillers too, the others were thrashed by the ages.

BTW: You will ABSOLUTELY love the rudders. They make an amazing difference in the control ability of the boat, and they are wonderful at keeping a straight course.

If everything is good, and it comes apart easily, its really easy and straightforward. If the rudders/bearings/collar have been on awhile, you may have to cut the bearings off with a cutting wheel. The only other things is that the boat needs to be blocked high enough (or dig a hole under the rudders) for the rudders to slide out. So, just unbolt the arm, retaining collar, loosen the bearing, and slide the rudder down. If you're repacking the rudder ports, take the packing out, and then slide the new rudder back in. Bolt everything back up, repack, and you should be good
