Re: Bertram 20 Bahia Mar
That tank removal is not the same on all B-20's. The easiest to remove is the Bahia Mar who's deck hatch removal (4 screws) opens up the whole area (straight lift up). Much is made of the transom wetness. Unless you're putting in a BIG HP engine the fiberglass on both the inside and outside is stron...

I cant speak to the 3 vs 4 blade part of it but what I did on my 3 blader was instead of adding pitch to get the proper rpm's at WOT, I added cup. The cup works at the upper end of the scale, when you want speed. Pitch made me move too fast at the low end (trolling, docking, etc.

Think about all the lawnmowers, leaf blowers, weed whackers and gas generators it can destroy. In case of a storm, go to your local flooded marina for gas for your generator. The gene pool is gone. Ugh!

Russ- I have a 130 class Tournament on my 31. The legs are kept in the shortest position to keep the stern wide open but even fully extended when fighting a big fish it swings 180 degrees with no problem. Could go 360 degrees but I have never done it. I love it.

It is one of the biggest scams ever perpetrated on the American public. First and foremost, does the boat have the original fiberglass tank in it? If you are running gas engines and using 10% ethanol/gasoline it is only a matter of time (not long) before you will have a screwed up engine. Your options are a diesel repower or remove/replace the tank with an aluminum one....

I troll on my starboard engine at about 3 kts. My rudders are the larger teardrop shaped shaped one, but I would recommend Captain Patrick's bigger ones. If you have an autopilot, it can keep you on track even at higher speeds. Mine is a 31 Sportsfisherman with 210 Cummins.

Brushed the shafts and props with a wire brush on a drill till they were shiny. Installed the shaft zincs on the bare shafts then masked them off so no Rejex got on them. As far as my experimenting on outdrives I did not try Rejex because the dealer had used a spray outdrive paint when I bought it. This season I tried 2 coats of Rejex on my shafts and props when I put her in in late April. Used it through May, June, July and half of August. Not a small problem as both myself and Randall went through it in our town. No one would take it. You should probably ask your local gas station if they have a disposal system available to them. Your local landscaper may take it. DO NOT put it in your car.

Given your requirements, I would suggest the 260. I have the 210s and cruise @ 20-22 kts based on how clean my bottom is. Fuel burn is 7-8 nmpg per engine. Simple as hell as well as to maintain.

Clean is what Ethanol does (first) so seeing clean is what you should expect. The only thing in your favor is that yours is a 1983 boat. Before I would spend the money on a repower I would want proof that the 1983 tanks were ethanol proof

I fished on the Judges B-25 hardtop at 2-3 UVI's and was very impressed with the performance of the boat powered by 2 3.0 Mercruisers. She's obviously draining back fuel slowly over that extended period of time. Could be an air seepage somewhere or a worn fuel pump impeller letting the fuel run back. Simpler/safer solution would be a shut-off valve at your fuel filter. Shut off the valve when you're going home and your fuel can't d...
