Bow Chock

I have been looking for a bow chock (mine was removed) and came across Doug's post unfortunately the SS ones are gone If anyone has a SS one or there old one they would like to part with please let me know i will gladly buy it

Steve I believe those circle caps that give access to the bulbs are the 25 version on the 31 the entire teardrop comes off.

I believe both the 25 and 31 versions are the same. I have both boats and both are the style where the complete teardrop top comes off to access the bulbs

I think the very early years they used the circle caps and newer versions the complete tear drop---same size for 25 & 31.

Thanks Tommy. I do wonder if anyone has a preference of one vs another. My boat didn't have a chock and the ones with the cap I had found didn't have the caps. I think someone here knew where to get replacement caps but I don't remember.

There was also a nice discussion of rigging up the bow lights in the chock that held up to water intrusion, mine is not wired yet, I think Bob Lico led that discussion.

At one point I was hoping that Peter would abandon his love affair with the bow pulpit, but that never happened.

Now it lives in Jersey.

I now have a pulpit and no bow chock, but in the past had it on a 25 and a dufferent 31, so thought they were the same.
I agree that one of the joys of this site is the vast array of knowledge .... and some of the "Tom Foolery" too !

If you find a bow chock without the round caps you can get the caps at any good plumbing supply house. They are stainless steel and are used to plug up the sink sprayer hole if it is not begin used in your household stainless steel sink. My original 1961 bow chock has the caps from the plumbing supply house. They have been in there since the early 80's and still work, the bulbs and sockets are from NAPA 12volt spring loaded type sockets you have to grind down the flange around the socket so it fits into the chock hole, seal with silicon and forget about them. The round lenses red and green are available at Boat Owners Warehouse( BOW) the flanges have to be ground down a little to fit inside the holes. The lenses and caps were under $25.00

I have a bow chock with the holes on top machine shop friend of mine made me up a dozen s.s. caps tapered to the hole. I used 2 and gave the rest to anyone who needed them on the site. now I can't find the 2 I saved. does anyone have 2 they are not using? i'll try a plumbing supply house but if someone has 2 'i'll buy them thanx bob f 62 express FRAYED KNOT

Yea Pete I put some time into that project.i devise a Mutible LED with no socket direct wires good for 100,000 hours I guess I will never replace them.

I have the full teardrop version, and it's in pretty bad shape. Can it be restored? If so, what can be done? What should it cost?

Ken somebody with Harry barb talent can grind down big nicks and braze then sent out to triple process chrome.
