I always wanted a book to explain diesel engines. But I couldn't find anything interesting. I just read trouble shooting marine diesels by Peter Compton. Its a great book, lots of information in few words. I'm a pretty good driveway / dock mechanic [i've removed / replaced many engines, wiring, etc. I'm sure this book would also help gas engine owners. It covers shaft alignment, cooling, charging, and oil systems. Testing heat enchangers, oil coolers, alternaters, etc. it only costs about $21.00 with shipping from boatdiesel.com.
I'd be glad to answer any questions about the book.
