boat transom repair

My bother just gave my 7yr old son a little MFG boat. I cut the old transom out, full of water soaking wet. I tryed searching the site. I can't remember the fisrt coat of epoxy is thined with lacquor thinner?? 40% first then 10 % second then full epoxy then glass. Does that sound right?

I was told denatured Alcohol, but perhaps Patrick will chime in. I was using mine on wood. Walter

I'm still fooling with restoring the old Whaler and just did some bare wood with epoxy cut about 25% with denatured and it worked fine.

Experiment with cutting the epoxy. It thins up fast. I've found that 10%+ works fine.
