I need to do a good bit of work to my stripped 28 bertram and have a question on what to do when.
My project is pretty broad and is going to take a while. I need to strip the gelcoat from the bottom and reseal it along with new paint. Topside needs to be repainted as well but i want to do some fiberglass work to replace the windows and do some other modifications. As of now the flybridge is off but will be put back on. The back decks are removed and the engines are out as well. For cover its under a shelter but it doesnt have walls.
So what im getting at is is there a general rule of thumb for finishing it from the top down or what? What i dont want to happens is me work on the bottom and seal that while the top half is exposed to suck in water and i cover up those problems. Im not sure where to start (probably be better off buying a new boat) but logically it seems better to seal it up from the top down so the bottom can continue to dry out from rain, etc.
Let me know what you think and if more details are nessisary just ask.
