B28 Mercruiser 350 engine alarms (1985)

Post by Leigh »

I was working on my stbd engine doing basic tune-up stuff. While leaning over to change plugs, my foot must have moved, because I looked down and the gear temp sensor wires were loose and one of the little forks had broken off flush (the left side looking forward). It's a simple plug around 7/8" with two little forks for the female end to plug into. It 's right in the center top of the velvet drive. Two questions. Is it something that would be available and, if it takes a while to get it, can the bell be disabled without shuting down all of the other alarms? I didn't see it, at least clearly on Hightide's site. Thanks

Leigh:

If you have Borg Warner 71C's 1.5:1 reduction gears like me the BW p/n for the gear temperature sender [190o brass plug with 2 flat blades] is 10-00-140-004.
Should be generic for all circa 1985 BW transmissions.

You should be able to match it up easily, or order one on line [e-basic power p/n ALT 99329.]

Happy July 4th.
