Algae X filtration "assisters"
Has anyone here that has diesels used these magnetic like devices (Algae X) attached to their fuel lines. Supposedly they aid in breaking up contaminents in fuel for better filtration. "Snake-oil" or do they really work?

They worked for me. The more fuel you run thru them the cleaner it gets. I was clogging Racor 500 elements in about 50 hours and after the Algae Xs had been on for a tank or two it went up to 200 hours. I noticed a good bit less smoke from the Cummins 6BTAs and about a 7% increase in fuel economy. If the boat sits a lot (like mine does now) the effect is not going to be that great, but if you turn over your fuel a good bit they are a plus.
