Identify that lower helm

Post by Rocky »

Hi guys, when I got my boat, the lower helm mechanism and wheel were missing. I would like to replace it, and the upper helm has the Hynautics H50 pump on it. Question is, did the B31 in 1970 come with Hynautics as standard equipment and do the lower helm "remains' look familiar?
Thanks for the help, Rocky.

If it was a Sportsfisherman it was standard to have a lower unit. Mine was a mid-60's model and it did not have any hydraulic steering. It was gear/chain/automotive (cadillac) steering box at the stern. Walter

Mine is a 66 that came with push/pull cable steering, which it still has! They also came with Walter's setup. I know Mikey's Express had the Cadillac steering box.

Thanks Walter and Rawleigh, I guess I will just match the pump at upper helm, the Hynautic H50. I know there are a lot that do away with the lower helm for creature comforts, etc., but I want it for safety reasons and comfort if needed. Rocky.
