Little red light on the helm

Irecently bought a 1970 B31 with Yanmar 4LHA STE engines. My wife and I are having a great time learning the boat. There is a small red light located underneath the wheel on the helm. Most of the time, the light is unlit. But occasionally, I have noticed that the light will come on for a few seconds then go off. Any idea what that light is for?

By the way, we got to meet some of you in Montauk a few week ago. It was great to see all the 31s line up at the dock. Hopefully next year we will be able to join you.

Most likely it's hooked to your aft bilge pump & lights up when the pump is avtive...
