Silver Solder or Rosin Core?

I'm installing a new radio and GPS on Saturday. I got a new butane-fueled soldering iron/torch, connectors, and shrink wrap. But I forget, do I use silver solder or rosin core solder?

Use Rosin Core Solder.

I think ???? Silver Solder has a much higher melting point........good for heat exchangers etc........

I just purchased one of those Butane torches with the soldering attachments and it works really well.

Using 2%-4% silver solder will result in a much more durable connection in the marine environment. Silver solder has a slightly higher melting point . I have had poor results using regular lead rosin core. Silver solder also has a rosin core for cleaning as it melts for adhesion. Also using liquid flux as I do will result in a suburb connection, especially in larger stock work. Happy soldering and make sure you coat it with liquid tape or shrink tubing. Dave K
