Recommendation for marine services in So Cal.

Hello everyone. I am in need of a boat yard that can install new rudder ports and fabricate a new rudder shelf for my project 31. I've been calling around and it seems like no one is interested in taking on the work. Any recommendation will be greatly appreciated. I am located around San Pedro, CA, but the boat is currently on a trailer. I could technically tow it anywhere, but a 50 mile radius would be ideal.

Good to meet you here.
Sorry I don't have a local recommendation for you. If you have diesel power you may be interested in Seaboard Marine https://www.sbmar.com/ who are just up the coast from you and may be able to refer you to some local help.
But.
I would encourage you to think of what you can accomplish with the help of this site. With apologies if you have already found some of these resources:

I think you will find confirming your plans for exhaust routing and perhaps tying in the new rudder backing with the strut backing
http://bertram31.com/proj/struts/strut_backing.htm will be important to this project. Looking again at your pictures you may also find some more storage/fish box space by reorienting the tiller arms 180 deg. and keeping the tie bar and hydraulic ram closer to the stern.

Call Gustavo Cueves (562) 500-5706 Most likely he will come to you. He did my 31 "Fortuna" at Sunset Aquatic a few years ago.

If you don't like your money I can recommend several yards in Newport, that said I had Basin Marine do my struts, backing plates, etc. the whole enchilada more than 10 years ago and everything is still perfect. I guess you get what you pay for.

So even though I thoroughly enjoyed doing my rudder shelves and have a good idea on how to do it now, I'm WAY North of you to check out your setup. But, you know Tony Athens at Seaboard Marine is such a nice guy and I think he wouldn't turn down your business. He is only a little south of you. If he was too busy to take on your project, I would trust his recommendation as to who else in the area can do that project. If you decide to tackle yourself, plenty of help here to lead you the way!

No doubt about that...and its not so much the bowl placement.
It's that the photographers chose to keep the door open or chose to use the pictures with an open door in more then a shot or two.

Exceptional attention to detail, perfect in all respects, for a boat the use of which I fail to understand.
As for its performance in the chop, better not to mention.
Oh, and the Persian rugs...identical to those I carry onboard!!!
