I would love advice from anyone who has converted from the original anchor to a Fortress or any new Danforth style. I have been working through this process and would love to ensure I am not running into or solving problems unnecessarily. Crazy how much is involved in what should be just a new anchor!
The chock did not line up with the tips of the blades by about 1/4-1/2” on each side, so I moved those two pieces. Now the anchor is sitting on the two screws that hold the back pad on. I think I need to shim up the back anchor chock piece with a 1/4 or 1/2” piece of starboard to keep the screws from rubbing on the deck.
Has anyone else run into this situation???

My Fortress fits fair..not perfect. But its in there somewhat loose. However the set screw holds it in tight. And I'm going to add the safety line like Mike O showed us. I can look later at what Model the Fortress is if you'd like. Or measure it to compare. I did nothing to my existing chocks.

Same thing happened to me with a new danforth. I didn’t want to move the chocks that hold the tips so we took a 2 by 4 wedged in between the flukes and a few well directed hammer blows spread them the perfect amount. No new holes in deck.

Priceless,
You may do this on a danforth but a fortresss is aluminum. It might crack.

had a Fortress on my previous boat, 23 foot Steiger pilothouse. Never liked it. even with plenty of chain. Thanks for pointing out my hammer trick may blow up an expensive piece of metal
