Would you like to buy a bowchock?
More information to share!
Lead time. I believe we are looking at 1-2 months to make the tooling, and then 1-2 months to get the castings, polish and drill. Total of between 2-4 months for lead time. I am waiting for the vendor to confirm this. I am also waiting for them to confirm what alloy of stainless is planned. This company makes cleats, port holes, fuel fills, etc., so they are very accustomed to producing stainless product for the marine environment. I have a high degree of confidence in them, plus I have friends that make sailboat hardware who buy from them, and they are quite happy with them as a vendor.
We are looking at $300 per chock, in cast stainless steel. At this point I am thinking that I will simply add a flat shipping fee of $25 bucks to cover any shipping arrangement and insure sufficiently (these suckers are not lightweight as those of us who have them know!) and UPS has a unique way of losing things at times. So total price will be $325.
I have recieved information from a few of you, but by far and away not all who showed interest at first, so I want to try a different approach and am sorry for potential confusion...
Please send me your check for $325 if you want one, and I will return a reciept to you. Please send it to:
Donald Stowe
677 Cambridge Street
Worcester, MA 01610
Please provide the address that you would like the reciept sent to, as well as the chock when that time comes.
Currently I have confirmed interest but not money (because I haven't asked until now!) from:
Glenn Deskins
Tim K (Thudd)
Bob Higgins
Uncle Vic
Ian Upton
Harry Babb
Doug Crowther
John F.
Rocket
Scott D.
Rit
There are 15 people who indicated interest originally who have yet to. There are 11 names on the list above. We need between 15 and 20 to make this cost effective, and the original total of 26 works really well!
So, If you are interested, please shoot me a check, and I will consider that a confirmation. I would like to get the order out soon, as the sooner ordered, the sooner recieved. Lets try for all to be in order, enabling an order date of May 7th.
Thanks everyone for the interest, and lets see if we can get a chock on every boat and desk that wants one!!!
Also, if there are people on either B28's or B33's who want them and participate on other sites, please let them know. This is the best time to accomodate any who want!
Thanks,
Dug

Bow light
Dug, I'll get the check out today or tomorrow, one problem though, Glenn Deskins (actually Glen) is the same guy as ScottD ( Glen Scott Deskins). Sorry for the confusion, just don't want you to think either one of us backed out after e-mailing a commitment to ya, as one more is all we (I) need.
Thanks for a job well done, Scott
By the way Tim, what are you going to do with one?

Dug,
You might try posting this on www.25bertram.com as well.
Most of us small Bertram owners frequent this site as well, but some may not.
The B25 has the same pc of hardware.
Ian.

Mark,
The lead time kicks in once I place the order. At this point I have recieved 3 checks. That ain't enough to kick off the order. We need between 15 and 20 to make this happen.
I intend, and am stating on the reciepts, to hold the checks until we get enough to do the order, and then the lead time kicks in. Once I place the order, the checks will get deposited, and then it will all be in motion. Make sense?
So yes, you are absolutely good to order if you want one!

Hyena Love, thank you.
As of today I have 5 checks. That is a far cry from where we were a week or two ago with in excess of 20!!!!
Come on guys, if you are waiting you are holding up those who have committed to this by getting a check in the mail.
I want to get this sewn up this week. Looks like it will stretch.
I have checks from:
UV
Rit
Bruce Sweet
Scott Deskins
John Formica
Hyena love says one is in the mail.
Where are the others?? Are we going to do this or not?
Looking forward to a great and successful order!

Yep, I know, however, when I redo a Bert, I close in all holes, including those. Soooo, right now I have no holes anywhere. With the lead time being several months, I need to put some cleat system up there until the chock comes in. The save would be if someone had a trashy one I can powdercoat and use until the good one comes in...
