Got back yesterday from Fat Teddy land and had a surprise at the boat. The covering boards got a first shaping and I gotta say it damn near brought a tear to my eye. (but I was in a weakened condition being still hung over from meditating and burning inscents with Tim)
Thought I'd show the group the state of disrepair we are currently in.
This is the air intake and gaff tube, we also finished under the gunnel and have no more side panels. We gained close to 12" in the pit by doing this
We removed the angled corners and hausers to round out the pit and make the kill box look more fitting. The hausers will go out the transom. The cleats will sit on the angled boxes in the corners.
You can see how the crown is followed in the transom well, check out the one piece "S" curves around the well corners.
That's it for now gotta run fuel lines, steering lines, install the rudders paint under the gunnels and find time to keep the Mrs happy.
Absolutely great lookin' wood work. Really like the way the transom corners were rounded out. You're on the road to having one of the sharpest B31s around...

nice wood work jp,that belly band that goes around the perrimeter of the cockpit is what i have been describing in my older post. i did mine in alzak and glass it to the glass sides making a waterproof raceway for water to exit thru the scuppers.did you do this in teak? i assumed you use this method to blend in with the teak cockpit.i would try to put one more louver in the air intake at the bottom forming a letter "D" air flow accerates tenfold thru a it as opposed to a square courner.anyways thats the way to go for fresh air by far and the best combustible air on the boat(least amount of salt mist).looking back on my teak gunnel job i should have carry the teak on the inside of the cockpit like yours and the pros. but i got sidetracked by the pussies who need coaming for standup tuna.

Roger Fritz is doing the teak work on the gunnels, he's one of the best around these parts. It took my partner and I longer to cut/rebuild the corners and finish the underside of the gunnels then it did for Roger to do those boards.
Being more of a fiberglass guy myself (cutting wood is a very permanent thing) the biggest challenge is working around these hunks of rain forest without putting dents in em.
Laying out the fishboxes, looks like 5 footers on each side, that's 2 less coolers to carry.
Gotta get some sleep, worked till 1am last night, all day today and back at it in the am...................Can't remember the last time I had this much fun. ...

When I looked at the first picture I thought, wow, I have never seen teak covering boards quite like what we have, minus the well. Then I read down and see that Roger did yours too. He is quite the master and did some really great work on our interior too. And you are correct, he wastes no time.
