ACR are running some great deals on PBL's and EPIRB's… I'm planning on getting a PBL as well as an EPIRB… My main question is whether I should get a Class I (auto deploy) or Class 2 (manual deploy) EPIRB…
I'd like to get the members opinion (please include reasoning)… A couple of hundred bucks either way is NOT my concern… The life of my dear ones as well as my own takes precedence…

If money is not a factor, it only makes good sense to buy the best....

The question was WHAT is the best… Keeping in mind the type of vessel I have… Type 1 or Type 2?!… And money is always a factor but a couple of hundreds either way doesn't amount to a significant amount…CaptPatrick wrote:If money is not a factor, it only makes good sense to buy the best....
Re: Safety equipment question
The "best" as Pat is saying would be the more "expensive" CAT 1 auto deploy.
Put the PLB in your ditch bag or have it packed in the life raft.
Or do whatever you want.

Re: Safety equipment question
I have one of each. The newest one is mounted to the boat. When the battery goes out of date, it goes in the ditch bag and a new one gets mounted to the boat. The batteries last for years after they 'time out', and by the time they do time out……..you can't buy that battery any more so you need to buy a new unit.
