Dinette

Post by PeterPalmieri »

I'm not a tall guy 5'8" and when the berth is folded down it is pretty tight, the closet forward of it is fairly useless. Has anyone restructured that area to get another 6" or so out of it as a bunk?

Not tackling this right now just curious.

Peter-

I haven't seen it done. What I've thought could be done without a lot of work is to cut a space out behind the forward vertical settee seat that lays against the bulkhead. Cut a hole a little smaller than the seat back (you wouldn't know the hole is there when the dinette is set up as a dinette), so you'd get a hole in that bulkhead that's about 18" high by 2 1/2' wide or so. Line that space, put a little cushion in the hole (6" by 2 1/2") to match your seat cushions. Sleep with your feet in there when you sleep. You gain the 6" without much reconfiguring, and without sacrificing the bulkhead. I saw it done on a DE boat I looked at, and it was a pretty simple solution that worked.

John good idea I had that same thought.

Imagine this if the aft seat wasn't moved forward. This on seems to go a bit to far and takes away some vberth space
