Bahia seating
My decks and supports are finally getting re-juvenated.
The companion seat (port side) is a metal bracket, "inverted L" shaped off of the wall, supported by the floor with cushions for seat and back.
The helm seat (in others that I have seen) has either been a double version of what I just described or a seat mounted atop a tackle cabinet (I believe this was an original option), which is what I have.
I dont want a normal pedestal scenaio and would either go with a match to the metal set-up that is the port side companion or do a refurbish/find new version of the tackle/storage seat.
What have others used ?
thanks

Re: Bahia seating
Steve,
On my express the helm and companion seats are hung from 2 u shaped aluminum brackets that are screwed into the side wings, with a 1" stainless steel leg that supports the outer side of the seat over the engine box. I had the guy's at Pompanette make me 2 new seats that resembled the old ones , the old hardware for the fold down hinges was not available anymore. I you go on United Yacht sales web site under 1961 31' Express you can see the pictures of how mine are set up. I remember the old Bahia Mar helm seat was attached to the top of a tackle center, can't remember how the comp[anion seat was mounted.

Re: Bahia seating
thanks guys ....
Seems like the old seats were Pompanette and Arrigoni can make up a new tackle center. I knew of them, but for the life of me could not remember the name.

Neil -
Have you used Nautical Designs?
I am considering these for my Bertram 20 Bahia project and would be interested in feedback.
Ian.

Ian,
Who makes that seat? I am quite interested in that. I was thinking of making something very similar. Any measurements?

Re: Bahia seating
I put something very similar to that on my 24' Albemarle 19 years ago -- made by Nautical Design -- they even called Albemarle and got the exact same gelcoat so it would look original. Last time I saw the boat was about 7 years ago and it still looked great. Highly recommend them for quality and function.

Re: Bahia seating
Yes our helm, passenger seats and fighting chair is from Nautical design. Great chairs with a lot of storage and their service is great.

Thanks Neil.
I will put to the top of the list.
