Post by gcreas1 »

Have a B31 with stock 454's was wondering what the manufacturer and model number is for the transmission? Have been told they are Borg Warner?

Thanks

gcrease1,
Most of the 31's with 454's came through with Borg Warner 72 series with 1:5:1 gear ratio, some of the early models with Chrysler 440's or 413's came with Borg Warner 72 series with direct drives. I have seen early 70's 454's with Paragon gears. I have 1997 454's FWC with Hurth 63A 8 degree down angles that were special ordered with throttle body fuel injection, went with the throttle bodies because Mercruiser hadn't put fuel coolers into the multi port fuel injector engines and the fuel was boiling before it got to the injectors. The throttle bodies are simple 2 injector system right down the throat of the intake manifold. with fuel coolers, all computer controlled from the ECM they don't burn much fuel and are rated at 310 hp with 5" exhaust.

No thankfully it has been back in the water for a while. Just doing a few odds and ends and hoping fishing breaks out...
