type of oil
Time for an oil change. I have cummins 6bta's 250 hp.And live in North Carolina. What brand and should it be 40 weight? Thanks russ

15w-40. I've use Rotella, Valvoline Blue (which I believe Cummins recommends), and Castrol in my 6BTA's Anyone will be fine.

Ditto on the Shell Rotella 15W-40... I buy it at Walmart.

Rotella T6 synthetic 5w40 is what I run in my F250 diesel 6.0 that is notoriously hard on oil. It is really good stuff and you can buy it at Walmart. It comes in the blue bottle. @$21 per gallon. My truck takes 14.5 quarts so it is a 4 gallon oil change. I get used oil analysis done every change by Blackstone labs and I am getting 10,000 miles per oil change, but the analysis says I could stretch it even farther. Excellent oil.
